Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting with specified technical procedures in one or more sections of the Clinical Laboratory. Performs various tasks including phlebotomy, customer service, clerical duties, and data entry.

Essential Functions

• Retrieves specimens from pneumatic tube system, initiates processing, and prepares samples for analysis according to procedures and standards. Distributes samples and loads specimens onto designated instruments.
• Prepares specimens for reference testing, including completing requisitions, packaging, storage, and notifying couriers.
• Performs instrument function verification, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure proper operation.
• Answers calls, maintains inventory, reviews policies, assists in training staff and students.
• Performs phlebotomy as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED - Required

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of phlebotomy/CLA experience - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• AMT Certified Office Laboratory Technician (COLT) or equivalent - Required
• Completion of Laboratory Assisting program from an accredited school - Required
• Additional certifications such as Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent - Preferred
