Job summary

DLH Corp is seeking a Scientific Programmer to support the National Institute on Aging IT Division. You will develop custom applications, ensure secure, compliant software, and support data collection across IRP sites.

The role requires HL7, DICOM, PACS expertise, and experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Perl, PHP, and SQL databases. A Public Trust clearance is required; hybrid agile DevSecOps approaches are used across clinical IT projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, bioinformatics, health information, or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in clinical application programming or health IT systems development.
  • Experience designing, coding, debugging, and implementing stand-alone, web-based, and multi-tier applications.
  • Proficiency with HL7, DICOM, and PACS protocols.
  • Frontend development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Backend development with Perl, PHP, Ruby and PostgreSQL/MySQL.
  • Proficiency with Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MS SQL Server.
  • Git version control and Puppet configuration management.
  • DevSecOps-based Agile development; secure coding per OWASP/US-CERT.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, Unix; HPC familiarity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to interact with end users.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, debug, and implement stand-alone, web-based, and multi-tier applications for the IRP/NIA.
  • Create frontends using HTML/CSS/JS for functional, responsive, accessible interfaces.
  • Build backends with Perl, PHP, or Ruby; PostgreSQL/MySQL backing stores.
  • Utilize HL7, DICOM, PACS in clinical applications and systems.
  • Use Git and Puppet to manage code and infrastructure over time.
  • Work with Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, and MS SQL Server engines.
  • Follow DevSecOps and secure coding practices per US-CERT/OWASP.
  • Support NIA IRP laboratories and clinical IT systems deployment and operation.
  • Document software and data; interact with end users to plan and maintain apps.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Health Information, or related field
