  • Providing timely feedback, coaching, and documentation of student learning.
  • Collaborating with course faculty and clinical agency personnel to ensure compliance.

Job description

Clinical Instructor: Vermont State University (VTSU) invites applications for part‑time clinical instructors to support clinical, laboratory, and simulation instruction in its pre‑licensure nursing programs, including the Practical Nursing (PN) certificate, Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. Opportunities are available throughout Vermont, and at select locations in New York and New Hampshire. Working collaboratively with nursing faculty to achieve learning outcomes, the Clinical Instructor facilitates student learning and supports the integration of nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, and professional practice behaviors across a variety of healthcare and educational settings. The Clinical Instructor serves as an educator, role model, mentor, and liaison between Vermont State University and affiliated healthcare agencies, promoting a positive and effective learning environment that supports student success, patient safety, and professional growth.

Clinical Instructor Responsibilities
  • Clinical experiences in hospitals, long‑term care facilities, and other healthcare settings
  • Nursing skills laboratories
  • High‑fidelity simulation and virtual simulation experiences
  • Remediation, skills validation, and competency assessment activities
  • Other experiential learning opportunities that support course and program learning outcomes
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating student performance in clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings
  • Facilitating the integration and application of classroom concepts to patient‑centered care
  • Promoting safe, ethical, and evidence‑based professional nursing practice
  • Providing timely feedback, coaching, and evaluation of student learning
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of student performance
  • Communicating effectively with course faculty, program leadership, and clinical agency personnel
  • Supporting compliance with university, program, accreditation, and clinical agency requirements
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and success
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Candidates with a BSN who enroll in an MSN program and are projected to finish within 3 years will be considered.
  • A current, unencumbered Registered Nursing license in each state where instructional responsibilities will occur.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in clinical instruction and simulation‑based training are preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical judgment frameworks, evidence‑based practice, and NCLEX preparation.
  • Recent clinical practice in a setting associated with the position you are applying for.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and interdisciplinary teams.
Compensation and Hours

Scheduled Hours Weekly: 0

Budgeted Wage for this Position: Rate: $55.00/hr (BSN degree) $62.00/hr (MSN degree)

Exempt Status: Exempt Grade: T02
