Job summary

AMHC seeks a Clinical Informatics and Cybersecurity Analyst to connect clinical operations with IT across Maine counties. This exempt, full-time role supports EHR optimization, AI-driven documentation, and secure healthcare technology governance.

You will work with clinical, operational, quality, compliance, and IT teams to improve workflows, enhance care quality, and ensure regulatory compliance while advancing cybersecurity practices and staff training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health informatics, information systems, computer science, cybersecurity, healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare technology, clinical informatics, cybersecurity, information systems, healthcare operations or a closely related area.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health records, healthcare workflows, system implementation, data integrity, and information security practices.
• Strong analytical, project management, documentation, training, communication and problem solving skills.
• Experience supporting behavioral health, integrated care, EHR optimization, healthcare cybersecurity, AI-enabled healthcare technology, or healthcare project implementation is preferred.
• Relevant certification in health informatics, cybersecurity privacy data analytics or project management is preferred.

Responsibilities

Description

We are seeking a Clinical Informatics and Cybersecurity Analyst to serve as a key connection between clinical operations and Information Technology in either Maine's Aroostook, Washington, or Hancock Counties.

This position supports the effective use, optimization, security, and governance of AMHC's electronic health record (EHR), clinical technology platforms, and emerging healthcare technologies.

The full-time, exempt Analyst works with clinical, operational, quality, compliance, and IT teams to improve workflows, support high-quality care, strengthen information security, and ensure technology meets organizational and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Informatics and EHR Optimization

• Serve as a primary liaison between clinical programs and Information Technology regarding EHR functionality and workflow needs.
• Evaluate clinical and operational workflows and recommend technology-based improvements.
• Design, configure, test, document, and support EHR forms, templates, workflows, alerts, reminders, and clinical decision-support tools.
• Support EHR functionality across behavioral health, substance use, community-based, developmental, psychological, school-based, and primary care services.
• Participate in system upgrades, integrations, interfaces, interoperability initiatives, testing, release management, and production validation.
• Support effective use of the patient portal and other patient-access technologies.

AI-Enabled Documentation and Workflow Automation

• Support implementation and optimization of AI-assisted documentation and workflow automation tools.
• Collaborate with clinical and compliance leaders to establish appropriate workflows and safeguards for emerging technologies.
• Monitor utilization, documentation quality, user adoption, and operational impact.
• Assist with organizational standards for responsible use of artificial intelligence.
• Ensure AI technology is used within approved organizational and regulatory parameters.

Cybersecurity and Information Security

• Carry out assigned cybersecurity and information security responsibilities under the direction of the Director of Information Technology.
• Conduct user-access reviews, security audits, system monitoring, vulnerability follow-up, and other risk-reduction activities.
• Assist with security risk assessments, incident investigation and response, corrective action tracking, and business continuity planning.
• Support compliance with HIPAA security requirements and agency privacy, access control, data protection, and acceptable-use standards.
• Develop and provide cybersecurity awareness education for staff.
• Monitor healthcare cybersecurity risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.

Technology Project Implementation

• Coordinate assigned components of technology projects, including EHR expansion, primary care integration, telecommunications modernization, mobile workforce technology, and clinical systems.
• Develop project plans, workflow documentation, system requirements, testing protocols, implementation schedules, issue logs, and training materials.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve implementation issues.
• Track project milestones, risks, decisions, and outcomes.
• Provide clear status updates to project and organizational leadership.

Training, Adoption, and User Support

• Develop and provide role-based training on EHR functionality, clinical workflows, cybersecurity practices, and new technologies.
• Create and maintain user guides, tip sheets, process documentation, and training resources.
• Promote consistent use of approved workflows.
• Identify additional training or system-design needs through staff feedback and system utilization.
• Serve as a subject matter resource for complex clinical systems questions.

Reporting and Data Integrity

• Assist with development and validation of clinical, operational, compliance, and implementation reports.
• Identify data-quality and workflow issues and coordinate corrective action.
• Maintain accurate system configuration, testing, change-control, and implementation documentation.
• Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational information.

Schedule

• Exempt position.
• Normal agency business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required for system implementations, upgrades, incident response, reporting deadlines, or other organizational needs.
• In-catchment travel may be required for meetings, training, workflow observation, system implementation, testing and staff support.
• Remote work may be available based on organizational needs.

• Ability to walk, talk, hear, and operate standard office equipment.
• Extensive computer use is required.
