Job summary

3M HEALTHCARE is seeking a Clinical Informatics Analyst to support providers and associates with in-person and remote assistance, troubleshooting, and driving improvements in the EHR and related clinical applications. The role focuses on adoption, training, and workflow optimization to enhance patient care.

Qualified candidates have a nursing or IT-related degree and 3–5 years of healthcare IT experience, plus an EPIC certification. Occasional travel to MLH operating units may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health IT, nursing, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of healthcare information systems experience with EHRs and healthcare IT systems.
  • Clinical Informatics Certification (e.g., EPIC) is required.

Job description

The Clinical Informatics Analyst supports providers and associates by providing in‑person and remote support, troubleshooting issues, and identifying opportunities for clinical information system improvements. The analyst promotes the optimization and adoption of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other related applications to improve workflow and patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, organize, and connect information to determine desired improvements and document how the enterprise manages its processes using specified information systems technology.
  • Support information system implementations and adoption in a timely manner, applying change management principles to achieve desired goals and outcomes.
  • Develop an understanding of the application functionality, reporting capabilities, interfacing, and integration associated with clinical applications assigned.
  • Work directly with new providers in the onboarding process, ensuring adoption of EHR best practices, enabling ePrescribe, training on documentation tools, and assisting with user settings.
  • Communicate effectively by promoting the flow of information within and outside the department.
  • Maintain knowledge of assigned information systems, technologies, and related subjects focused on EMR/EHR applications and third‑party integrations.
  • Provide first‑level support to providers and deliver training on information systems as assigned.
  • Track and train adoption of key performance indicators (KPIs) in the EMR/EHR, monitoring Provider Efficiency Profile and Signal data.
  • Serve as the liaison between IT teams and providers/clinicians, communicating health IT changes and their impact.
  • Provide clinical workflow input to IT associates as needed and share tips and tricks at department/division meetings.
Education and Certifications
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or Pharmacy.
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent (if substituted for a bachelor’s degree with 7–9 years of healthcare information system experience).
Experience Requirements
  • Required: 3–5 years of experience in healthcare information systems, working with electronic health records and healthcare IT systems.
  • Preferred: 7–9 years of experience in information systems implementation/support or in a healthcare environment working with electronic health records and healthcare IT systems.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Required: Clinical Informatics Certification – EPIC Systems Corporation.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and initiative in a wide range of circumstances.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of inpatient, ambulatory, and outpatient environments and associated processes.
  • Computer literacy and information literacy.
  • Ability to effectively train others in the use of the EHR and related technology or third‑party integrations.
  • Ability to support adoption of and communicate best practices for all Epic applications.
  • Ability to travel to any area of the organization, both local and remote, as needed, and must provide own transportation.
Physical Demands
  • Scheduled on‑call for emergencies and support.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and carry up to 10 lbs. periodically.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, sit, squat, and kneel periodically throughout the shift.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and twist periodically throughout the shift.
  • Must be available to respond to call backs at all times.
  • Must provide own transportation to any MLH operating unit.
