Job summary

Pender Community Hospital District is seeking a Clinical Informatics Specialist (Full-Time) to drive the integration and application of information technology in patient care. Clinical Informatics Specialist (Full-Time)

The Clinical Informatics Specialist will collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups, and functions as the point-person in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings in accordance with strategic business objectives. This role serves as a liaison between clinicians and IT professionals to facilitate a common understanding of the clinical standards and process improvement activities across multidisciplinary teams throughout the lifecycle of clinical systems. The Clinical Informatics Specialist will play a major role in the testing, training activities, and the phased implementation of information technology projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead clinical informatics projects to ensure they are plannedand implemented using evidence-based practices for planning,understanding, guiding and delivering responsible and efficientpatient care.
  • Incorporates understanding of clinical business operationsinto the role of liaison between the clinical customer andtechnical support teams.
  • Utilize the SBAR process to plan recommendations forinformatics solutions.
  • Leads efforts to ensure workflows/processes are current withregulatory agencies and best practice standards.
  • Identifies changes to systems to comply with policies andprocedures in the most efficient manner.
  • Utilize data to drive process, workflow and behavior change asit relates to appropriate and efficient use of electronic medicalrecords (EMR) and other clinical technology.
  • Serves as a resource to end users for information systems andtechnology; effectively communicate system changes, workflowprocess changes, downtime procedures, etc.
  • Participates in the production and distribution ofcommunications related to technology through active internalnetworking, clinical liaison role, newsletters, announcements andother technology-based mechanisms to health professionals.
  • Routinely conduct intentional rounding in patient care areasto gain overall knowledge of facility specific workflow, patientthroughput, and challenges with technology solutions.
  • Monitors outcome and evaluates user adoption of current andnewly implemented information technology and functionality.
  • Coordinates and develops training plans and user documentationfor all clinical based systems.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week ( Not aremote position)

Experience and Skills

Education, Experience

  • Previous experience involving the implementation and use ofclinical information systems is strongly preferred
  • Advanced education in the field of medical informatics ispreferred. Experience with Meditech Expanse EHR preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or other applicablerelated field preferred
