Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist - Clinical Lab - HLA to perform a full range of laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. You will compile specific, technical, statistical and/or numerical data.

Certification/registration must be obtained within 1 year post-hire from ASCP or equivalent. Responsibilities include diverse lab tests and data analysis, on-day shift at the Main Campus

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory protocols and procedures.
• Ability to analyze and manipulate clinical data.
• Proficiency with lab equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Conducts tests across hematology, microbiology, immunology and chemistry.
• Analyzes biological samples for chemical content and reactions.
• Performs cell culture preparation and microscopy as needed.
• Cultivates and identifies microbial organisms for diagnosis.
• Prepares specimens and media for culture using aseptic technique.
• Assesses blood samples for cell counts and compatibility.
• Operates and maintains spectrophotometers and analyzers; observes safety.
• Adheres to safety, environmental and infection control practices.
