Job description

REPORTS TO: Service Director

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide patient care, under supervision as appropriate, as assigned by the training program director or his/her designee, consistent with the educational goals of the program and the highest standards of patient care. ("Patient care" includes responsibility for associated timely documentation.)
  2. Develop a personal program of learning to foster continued professional growth with guidance from the teaching staff.
  3. Participate fully in the educational and scholarly activities of the program as specified by the training program director, including teaching and supervising other graduate trainees and students, attending didactic conferences, and other responsibilities such as research projects, examinations, maintenance of procedure logs, etc.
  4. Contribute to improving the quality of graduate medical education by submitting confidential written evaluations of the faculty, the program, and the overall educational experience as requested, and by completing surveys from the GME Office.
  5. Participate in institutional programs and medical staff activities, adhering to established practices, procedures, and policies of the Hospital(s), the Hospital's Professional/Medical Staff, and the Department.
  6. Participate, as appropriate, in institutional committees and councils affecting graduate medical education and/or patient care.
  7. Comply with institutional requirements for annual health and safety training, vaccinations, and TB testing.
  8. Help cover office call for Mass Eye and Ear.
  9. Participate in clinical research projects.
  10. Play an integral role in the education of residents.
  11. Perform duties as assigned by the training program director or his/her designee.
