Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Clinical Exercise Physiologist for MedStar Montgomery Medical Center to support outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. Expect to work at least every other weekday, with potential additional shifts and travel to McLean, VA; Washington, DC; or Chevy Chase/Bethesda, MD.

The role emphasizes direct patient care, ECG/ stress testing, and coordination with physicians. Prior EKG/ECG/stress testing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• LPN, or graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program, or graduate of an Exercise Physiology or related program.
• 1–2 years post-graduation experience as a clinical assistant of exercise physiology.
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• Cardiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct delivery of patient care including cardiac monitor hook-ups, stress testing setup, and supporting physicians and mid-level providers.
• Review the patient schedule each day to ensure timely support and coordination of care.
• Perform patient assessments, obtain vitals, update medication lists, and conduct ECGs as required.
• Maintain regulatory/compliance standards and ensure adherence to state, local, and federal regulations.
• Assist team with data transmission, documentation, and communication among patients and staff.

About the Job

MedStar Health is looking for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center! This individual will work at least one weekday every other week with potential to pick up additional shifts. We are ideally seeking at least 1 year of EKG/ECG/stress testing experience. You'll be part of a positive, collaborative team in the outpatient cardiac rehabilitation setting.

This individual will have opportunities to work additional shifts depending upon willingness to travel to other clinics located in McLean, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and Chevy Chase or Bethesda, Maryland.

Primary Duties

• Actively participates in the direct delivery of patient care which can include performing cardiac monitor study hook-ups, home sleep testing, endovenous ablation set-up, and port removal set up to render appropriate clinical support to the physicians and mid-level providers. Assists in coordinating patient care with clinical staff by reviewing the patient schedule at the beginning of each day to ensure appropriate support is available at the appointed times.


• Completes patient assessment by identifying chief complaint, obtaining Review of Systems, updating medication list, completing vital signs, performing ECGs when required to render appropriate clinical support to the physicians and mid-level providers.


• Interacts with patients, physicians, and staff by obtaining and communicating essential data and assisting other team members to coordinate the effective transmission of patient-related information. Maintains a regulatory/compliance environment by following organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state, local, and federal standards, and regulations.


• Maintains a safe office environment by following practice policies and procedures to ensure the office is in full compliance with OSHA practices. Provides direct patient care by following practice policies and procedures to conduct stress testing including treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests, and stress echocardiograms.


• Reviews physician orders for appropriateness of testing before beginning stress tests. Verifies, confirms, and submits pharmacy refill requests by following office policies, which include e-prescribing, to ensure accurate and timely drug therapy.

Qualifications

• LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), or graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program, or graduate of an Exercise Physiology or related program.


• 1-2 years post-graduation experience as a clinical assistant of exercise physiology.


• CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).


• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.


• Cardiology experience preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $22.04 - USD $36.41 /Hr.
