Job summary

PeaceHealth SHMC at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon seeks a part-time Clinical Exercise Physiologist for Cardiac Rehab. The role includes direct patient care in inpatient/outpatient rehab, exercise testing labs, and collaboration with the care team to implement therapy plans.

Qualifications include Bachelors in Exercise Physiology, CEP/registered CEP, and BLS; ACLS within 6 months. Salary range begins at $31.60 to $47.40 per hour; 0.80 FTE status with day shifts.

• Master's degree preferred.
• CEP Certification required/held.
• Registration as a CEP preferred.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial patient interview and assessment for rehab program.
• Case manages cardiac rehab program and develops/modifies care plans.
• Develops safe exercise prescriptions for diverse patients with comorbidities.
• Counsels patients on test results, home exercise, and risk factors.
• Develops and implements educational programs for patients and families.
• Assists in developing wellness programs and community events.
• Supports policy and outcome measure development.

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Job SummaryResponsible for providing direct patient care to individuals participating in inpatient or outpatient cardiac, pulmonary and vascular rehabilitation programs. May also work in exercise stress testing laboratory or in other clinical settings where exercise training has been shown to be of therapeutic benefit. Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to develop, implement, and monitor the patient's therapy program.What you will do:

• Conducts individualized initial patient interview and assessment, collects patient medical history and develops individualized treatment plan for comprehensive cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation program.
• Case manages entire cardiac rehabilitation program for individual patients. Implements, modifies and supervises therapeutic program for patients and family members. Assesses and re-assesses patient throughout the program to modify plan of care. Maintains appropriate clinical records and consistently documents data in the appropriate area.
• Develops safe and appropriate exercise prescriptions for diverse patient population with multiple co-morbidities. Collaborates with other health care team members regarding continuity of care, but capable of working independently and making high level clinical decisions on complex and high-risk patients with chronic disease.
• Provides patient counseling on test results and procedures, and instructs patients on home exercise programs, risk factors and other behavior modification.
• Develops and implements educational programs for patients and families.
• Assists Manager and Wellness Services Coordinator with developing and implementing wellness programs, services and special events (e.g. health fairs, community activities, employee and community wellness programs, etc.).
• Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedure, protocols and outcome measures.

What you bring: Education

• Bachelor's Degree Required: Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science or related field
• Master's Degree Preferred:

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Experience in related field an
• Minimum of 2 years Preferred: Previous experience in cardiovascular rehabilitation services and
• Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

Credentials

• Required: Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification
• Required: Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist and
• Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Required: within 6 months Advanced Cardiac Life Support
