Job summary

Position Purpose

The Early Intervention Evaluation (EIE) Clinical Evaluator will complete developmental evaluations in accordance with Early Intervention Colorado (EICO) policies and procedures, to determine eligibility for Part C Early Intervention services for children birth to three years old. Evaluators are members of a multidisciplinary team (OTs, PTs, SLPs, DIs, etc.) and evaluations are completed with two different disciplines present. The EIE clinical evaluator will report to the EIE Clinical Supervisor and/or the EIE Program Manager in the Developmental & Behavioral Health Department as part of the Early Intervention Evaluation Entity for the city and county of Denver, Colorado.


Essential Duties


  • Provides Part C eligibility evaluations in office locations, virtually, and in daycares/homes as needed.

  • Completes Hearing and Vision screenings as needed.

  • Obtains developmental information through direct play, observation, and/or interview of caregivers.

  • Collaborates with team members using a variety of methods including verbal and written.

  • Effectively communicates evaluation results, eligibility determination, and strategies that are functional for the child’s and family’s routines.

  • Writes timely and complete evaluation reports and other documentation needed to provide high quality services and meet funder, regulatory, and organizational standards.

  • Assists team in identifying needs for training and assists in the provision of training as appropriate.

  • Works with supervisor to provide evaluation appointments that accommodate child and family needs and fulfill evaluation expectations as set by the department.

  • Provides culturally responsive services to a diverse population.

  • Performs other clinical or administrative duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Works collaboratively with other Transdisciplinary Team members to provide best practice to infants and toddlers with developmental delays and their families.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Must have basic computer skills, including word processing

  • Knowledge of Part C Early Intervention systems including standards of practice.

  • Knowledge of typical child development as well as children with developmental delays and disabilities.

  • Knowledge of developmental evaluation tools (i.e. DAYC-2, IDA-2)

  • Ability to understand the needs of a range of disabilities.

  • Knowledge of life-span issues, including typical and atypical early human development.

  • Knowledge of family social, emotional, financial, psychological and cultural issues.

  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance, and individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.

  • Knowledge of regulatory agency standards of practice.

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in family-friendly language

  • Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so that others will understand.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Two years of experience working with infants, toddlers, and young children with developmental delays.

  • Master’s Degree in discipline area.

  • Current licensure/certification to practice in the state of Colorado in line with the EICO Personnel Standards


Preferred Qualifications


  • Completion of the required state trainings for Early Intervention Providers in Colorado.

  • Registered with the Early Intervention database (EI Portal).

  • Five years of experience in working with infants and young children with developmental delays.

  • Bi-lingual, Spanish speaking.

  • Proficiency in feeding evaluations and therapy.

  • Evaluation, treatment and intervention of medically fragile infants or toddlers and experience with children referred from the NICU.

  • Experience with assistive technology.

  • Experience in 3rd party reimbursement documentation and procedures.

  • Registered and current with Committee for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH).

  • Current Medicaid license.
