Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician to perform inspection, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex medical equipment in a healthcare setting. You will document activities in CMMS, collaborate with clinicians and vendors, and ensure equipment safety and regulatory compliance across system locations.

The role requires an Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three (3) years of experience installing, inspecting, testing, calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, calibration, and servicing of complex diagnostic, therapeutic, laboratory, and biomedical equipment.
• Conduct safety, performance, and operational tests to verify accuracy and safe operation; identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
• Diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and coordinate vendor service as needed.
• Document service requests, maintenance activities, and equipment status in CMMS.
• Collaborate with nursing, staff, vendors, and technical resources to minimize downtime.
• Evaluate new equipment and participate in equipment acceptance testing; advise on acquisition and maintenance.
• Maintain tools and documentation in compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
• Prioritize work orders and complete maintenance within SLAs.
• Provide services across service lines and system locations as needed.
• Participate in staff education on equipment operation and safety.
