Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Clinical Educator to develop, coordinate, implement and organize education activities for individuals, departments and hospital-wide programs. The educator serves as a consultant, facilitator and change agent to support clinical leadership.

You will lead orientation for new and transferred staff, manage education programs for mandatory requirements and collaborate with the Patient Safety Officer and Quality Director to advance

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license (or a compact state license) is required.
• BSN is required; MSN preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• 3–5 years of recent clinical experience with ongoing mastery of clinical skills.
• Sufficient previous experience in adult education.

• Develops/coordinates orientation for new and transferred staff with ongoing involvement in orientation and continuing education materials.
• Develops, manages and coordinates education programs and conducts training for mandatory programs.
• Collaborates with Patient Safety Officer to address system changes and promote quality and safety.
• Collaborates with Quality Director to develop and maintain the quality program and staff education.
• Leads committees or projects related to implementing educational activities.
• Teaches content within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and safe practice.
• Supports professional growth by engaging in educational programs, literature, in-service meetings, and conferences.

The Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and organizing a variety of education activities including individual, department and hospital wide programs. The Clinical Educator serves as consultant, facilitator, change agent and leader. This position supports clinical department leadership.

How you'll contribute

• Develops/coordinates orientation of new employees and transferred employees with active on-going involvement in the orientation process and continuing education materials.
• Develops, manages, and coordinates education programs and conducts training related to the needs of the organization including State, Federal, and accreditation mandatory programs.
• Works closely with Patient Safety Officer and responds to identified system changes or other identified needs to promote quality and patient safety.
• Works closely with Quality Director in developing and maintaining the quality program and the education of staff.
• Leads committees, work groups and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities.
• Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and professional conferences.

What we're looking for

Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree Preferred.

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Provider certification is required within 30 days of hire. Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider Instructor within 3 years of accepting or transferring into the position.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
