Position Summary
The Clinical Education Specialist provides professional education and clinical support to STERIS customers in infection prevention, reprocessing, and perioperative practices. Responsibilities include developing educational materials, supporting clinical training, and consulting to improve customer processes with STERIS products/services. This role also supports the sales team to achieve financial objectives.
Position Details
- This is a remote, customer-facing role. Candidates must be based in California and able to travel within the territory as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the IPT Sales Team as a subject matter expert in Sterile Processing to build customer confidence and increase product line revenue.
- Collaborate with IPT Marketing on clinical expertise for new product launches and existing product concerns.
- Assist Product Managers with VOC, feasibility studies, troubleshooting, and review of clinical materials.
- Engage directly with customers, dealer reps, and sales/support staff through visits, training, and communication.
- Conduct product and equipment in-services and develop educational seminars to promote products.
- Audit customer work processes and equipment use, identify improvement opportunities, and document findings.
- Address serious customer issues with data collection, documentation, and communication with relevant teams.
- Proactively recommend solutions to customer needs and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and industry organizations, and stay updated on sterile processing practices and regulations.
- Participate in trade shows and represent STERIS professionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 6 years of clinical experience, with expertise in Central Supply Processing/ Sterile Processing.
- Experience in perioperative practice, infection control, or related fields.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterilization principles.
- Two professional certifications within 12 months of hire (e.g., CRCST, CIS, CHL, CER, CIC, CNOR).
- Residence in California and ability to travel up to 70%.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet hospital/credentialing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Leadership experience in a hospital SPD setting preferred.
- Expertise in OR, Central Supply, Infection Prevention, or Endoscopy departments preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of Lean Orientation, Lean Onboarding, and Problem Solving training after hire.

Compensation
Pay range: $90,000 - $110,000, with eligibility for bonuses. Pay is based on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
