Clinical Education Specialist (CES) - Paramedic

Remote in the state of New Mexico

JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction, the CES oversees the Clinical and Education Services activities within the local service area. They represent AMR to local committees, medical and training institutions, and other related agencies. The role involves creating, implementing, and tracking education programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in recruitment through involvement in EMS classes and career days.
  2. Develop orientation and continuing education programs.
  3. Participate in evaluating and selecting equipment.
  4. Create education processes including course objectives, exams, and manuals.
  5. Coordinate National Registry examinations.
  6. Conduct various certification courses such as orientation, IV, ACLS/PALS, CPR/AED, and Lifepak courses.
  7. Collaborate with local physician advisory groups.
  8. Manage clinical requirements related to contracts and agreements.
  9. Review events related to medical performance complaints or compliments.
  10. Investigate clinical quality assurance issues promptly.
  11. Maintain employee certifications and vaccinations in a database.
  12. Develop and implement quality improvement programs to ensure clinical excellence and support continuing education.
  13. Manage Field Training Officers (FTOs), including selection, monitoring, and guideline development.
  14. Represent AMR in local EMS education programs and coordinate with internship and preceptor needs.
  15. Serve as a clinical resource for field and management personnel.
  16. Assist in creating and revising medical policies.
  17. Conduct clinical call reviews and investigations.
  18. Coordinate evaluations for local paramedic candidates.
  19. Schedule and oversee continuing education programs.
  20. Standardize CES programs across service areas with other coordinators.
  21. Review patient care reports for accuracy.
  22. Design and review utilization management plans.
  23. Evaluate billing statistics related to Medicare, Medicaid, and others to identify issues.
  24. Support documentation and billing personnel clinically.
  25. Participate in appeals from a clinical perspective.
  26. Ensure adherence to information systems security policies and report security issues.
  27. Procure controlled substances in collaboration with the Medical Director, maintaining highest safety standards.
  28. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Licensing / Certification:

High School Diploma or GED required; undergraduate degree preferred. Must hold current NREMT and State Paramedic certification. Acceptable driving record. ACLS, PALS, and BLS Instructor certifications required within one year of hire.

Experience:

At least 3 years of experience in pre-hospital advanced life support as a Paramedic. State Instructor/Coordinator certification. Experience in delivering, evaluating, instructing, and coaching pre-hospital care.

Knowledge and Skills:

Fluent in English. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Windows. Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement principles. Effective communication skills.
