Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Education Specialist, an advanced level RN role focused on addressing staff educational needs within a specialty area or across the organization. The position leads educational assessment, planning, and outcome evaluation while serving as a SME on organizational initiatives and accreditation.

Responsibilities include orienting staff to the EHR, evaluating competencies, mentoring RNs, LPNs, and CMAs, and updating training materials.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or a compact state.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Five (5) years of experience in a critical care setting as an RN.
• Direct certification and work experience relevant to educational areas expected for instruction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with orientation of clinical staff to the electronic health record and required documentation.
• Evaluates and assesses clinical competencies; provides instruction for competency development.
• Demonstrates professional leadership in nursing practice and serves as a role model for staff.
• Maintains/updates training manuals and attends departmental meetings; may function as staff nurse when training/public initiatives are not in progress.
• Coordinate access to educational programs; assess, plan, implement and evaluate educational needs of staff.
