Job summary

Huntsville Hospital seeks a Documentation Improvement Specialist to coordinate the review of concurrent inpatient clinical documentation. You will work with providers to ensure accurate documentation reflecting illness severity and implications for patient care and reimbursement.

The role reports to the Director of Health Information Management and requires collaborative skills with clinicians to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2-year college required.
• Graduate from an accredited HIT/HIM or RN program; BSN preferred.
• RHIT/RHIA licensure or RN license with relevant experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Daily management of concurrent documentation-improvement tasks.
• Coordinate concurrent coding clarification issues with physicians.
• Timely reporting of concurrent coding/documentation-improvement efforts.
