What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):

  1. Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  2. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding
  3. Provide education and training to clinical staff on best practices for documentation improvement
  4. Utilize data analytics to identify trends and areas for improvement in clinical documentation
  5. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the development of policies and procedures related to clinical documentation

What is Required (Qualifications):

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical documentation improvement or a related field
  2. Active RN license
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required; advanced degrees preferred
  4. Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and DRG assignment
  5. Ability to work on multiple projects and validate large amounts of data from diverse sources

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

  1. Experience in Case Management/Care Coordination
  2. Familiarity with HIM/Coding principles
  3. Proficiency in data manipulation and interpretation using various relational database platforms such as Access, FoxPro, or MS SQL
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
