Job summary

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Virginia is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead our 36-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and oversee the clinical and operational performance with visible leadership for nurses and the interdisciplinary care team.

The Nursing Director oversees assigned units, drives business strategy, ensures legal compliance, collaborates with stakeholders, and manages budgets to deliver holistic, evidence-based patient care and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• 1 year of leadership experience.
• 2 years of acute care nursing experience.
• Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
• Certification - Basic Life Support & Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, via AHA upon start.

Responsibilities

• Ensures use of guidelines, standards and evidence-based practice in care delivery, producing quality patient outcomes and a safe patient environment.
• Serves as a physician liaison and primary information resource/contact for the unit. Ensures compliance with the unit plan for physician satisfaction.
• Maintains and monitors budgetary standards and utilizes resources effectively and appropriately.
• Monitors patient/physician satisfaction and seeks ways to improve by ensuring continuous implementation of evidence-based practices to include, but not limited to, discharge phone calls, leadership rounding (patients, physicians and internal customers), AIDET and HML conversations

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Director to lead our 36-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This front-line nursing leader will have direct responsibility for the clinical and operational performance of the unit, providing visible leadership and support to nurses and the interdisciplinary care team.

The Nursing Director oversees assigned units to ensure they are performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success. Serves as a primary liaison and information resource for assigned unit. Oversees the provision of therapeutic care in a holistic and evidence-based environment, which produces excellent patient care with optimal patient outcomes.

Minimum Requirements

• 1 year of leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
• Experience mentoring and developing teams
• Experience leading a Progressive Care, Step-Down, Telemetry, or similar higher-acuity inpatient unit
