Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to lead early oncology clinical development. You will plan and direct clinical research activities across development phases, overseeing trial design, execution, and regulatory reporting.

The role requires MD or MD/PhD with 3+ years of clinical medicine and 1+ year in industry drug development or equivalent research. Travel ~20% and collaboration across functions are expected.

Clinical Director (Principal Scientist)

Role Responsibilities

• Plan and direct clinical research activities in Early Oncology for new or marketed medicines across all development phases.
• Manage study lifecycle for signed studies: design, initiation, execution, monitoring, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication.
• Plan clinical trials; provide medical oversight and overall conduct of clinical trials.
• Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety/efficacy decisions, regulatory submissions, study reports, and publications.
• Participate in internal and joint internal/external research teams for new and marketed compounds.
• Support business development assessments of external opportunities.
• Engage cross-functionally (commercialization, regulatory affairs, statistics, manufacturing) to manage clinical development projects.
• Provide expert internal/external scientific opinions.
• Maintain scientific knowledge: track developments, identify investigators, communicate with prominent investigators, and attend scientific meetings.
• Author development documents, presentations, budgets, and position papers; facilitate global collaborations.
• Travel ~20% to manage ongoing/future projects.

Education

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.

Required Experience/Skills

• Industry or senior faculty academia experience.
• 3+ years clinical medicine.
• 1+ year industry drug development or biomedical research in academia.
• Record of scientific scholarship; proven clinical medicine and biomedical research background.
• Strong interpersonal; verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

Preferred

• Board Certified or Eligible in Oncology (or related).
• Prior clinical research experience and publications.

• Salary range: $255,800.00 - $402,700.00; eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive (if applicable).
