Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Clinical Development Director to lead early-phase oncology programs from first-in-human to proof-of-concept, shaping trial design and development strategy.

You will collaborate with Precision Medicine, Research, Late Development, Regulatory, Safety, and Commercial teams, oversee protocol development, data review, and external partnerships to advance the oncology portfolio.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• 2 years of industry or academic clinical research/drug development experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead early phase clinical development of oncology compounds from first-in-human through proof-of-concept.
• Collaborate to design and deliver early phase clinical trials.
• Support protocol development, study start up, data review, monitoring, and analysis.
• Contribute to early clinical development strategy; prepare clinical development plans, clinical study protocols, informed consents, Investigator Brochures, and ethics/regulatory submissions.
• Review and evaluate safety, efficacy, pharmacodynamic, and pharmacokinetic data.
• Develop strategy for clinical biomarkers to facilitate drug development.
• Collaborate with Precision Medicine, Research, Late Development, Regulatory, Safety, and Commercial colleagues.
• Evaluate external licensing/partnering opportunities in oncology.
• Provide biomedical expertise and strategic guidance to oncology early development teams.

Basic Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• 2 years of industry or academic clinical research/drug development experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Board certified/eligible (Oncology); oncology residency training.
• Experience in basic research and/or clinical trial methodology.
• 3+ years drug development experience (preferably early stage trials).
• Experience collaborating with pharmaceutical sponsors.
• Experience designing, monitoring, implementing clinical trials, and interpreting results.
• Leadership, matrix decision-making/alignment, publication track record.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
