Summa Health Akron City Campus seeks a Registered Dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to bariatric and weight management patients. You will conduct discharge education and lead classes within the Bariatric Care Center, while handling patient nutrition calls and reviewing labs.

Collaboration with surgeons and the broader care team is essential. The role requires a Bachelor's in Nutrition, RD licensure, and 1–2 years of relevant clinical experience, with a path to Specialist in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and RD licensure required.
• 1–2 years of experience in weight management or obesity care.
• Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CDR) within 1–2 years preferred.
• Ability to operate a computer and manage patient information.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to weight management patients.

Full-Time / 40 Hours / Days

Mon-Fri - 8a-4:30p

Hire On Incentive $5,000

Summary

Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to patients enrolled in the Summa Health Non-Surgical and Surgical Weight Management Programs, as well as to other patients of the Bariatric Care Center needing MNT. Provides discharge teaching regarding post-op diet protocols to all surgical patients and teaches classes in each program. Manages all phone calls from patients with nutrition questions, reviews nutritional value lab results, and implements standing orders for vitamin replacement. Collaborates with surgeons, physicians, psychologists, nurses and all other members of the weight management treatment team.

Formal Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or closely related field of study
• Registered and licensed dietitian (RD)

Experience & Training Required

• 1-2 years of position related experience in the care of patients needing non-surgical and surgical weight management
• Certified as Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or willing to obtain within 1-2 years.
• Ability to operate a computer
• Population Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with patients/customers who are of varying degrees of overweight and obesity, with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
