Job summary

The Medical Dietitian position in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction reviews nutritional status for offenders across NC prisons and advises providers on medical nutrition therapy. The role will also train in-service classes for food service and medical staff to evaluate program outcomes.

It serves as the liaison between Food Management and Medical Departments to ensure therapeutic diet orders align with policy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in foods and nutrition or related area with ACEND/AND accreditation and CDR registration.
• Bachelor’s degree in foods and nutrition with ACEND/AND accreditation and CDR registration and two years of clinical dietetics experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional status of offenders across NC prisons.
• Provide recommendations to providers on medical nutrition therapy.
• Train in-service classes for food service and medical staff on nutrition and program outcomes.
