Job description

Clinical Dietitian Supervisor 100% - Downtown Campus

Position Summary
The Specialized Care Coordinator supports the Associate Director in supervising, hiring, training, and ensuring compliance for Clinical Dietitian I/II roles. Demonstrates leadership and accountability for standards of practice, with advanced nutritional competency based on evidence-based principles. Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and provides clinical services to meet patient needs.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Leadership
  • Supervise clinical dietitians and coordinate with the Associate Director
  • Lead, coordinate, and manage staff, providing performance feedback and development opportunities
  • Work with HR on coaching, development, and disciplinary actions
  • Conduct annual performance reviews
  • Maintain excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Manage staffing levels and approve time-off requests
  • Approve timecards for payroll
  • Organize staff continuing education
  • Lead monthly department meetings
  1. Strategy, Program Development, and Instruction
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of dietitians
  • Lead training for new hires and ongoing competency assessments
  • Develop and coordinate educational programs, including group classes and support groups
  • Monitor and assist with department budgeting
  • Ensure staff competency in evidence-based practices and patient care quality
  • Perform quality assurance through chart audits and other measures
  • Collaborate on preceptor training and rotation scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with policies and standards, including The Joint Commission
  • Support modifications in foodservice information systems like CBORD

Minimum Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Dietetics or related field, or equivalent experience and education.

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 years of clinical nutrition experience
  • Experience managing patient care across various medical conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetics Registration
  • State licensure in Iowa

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CDCES, CNSC)
  • Management or leadership experience
  • Experience with Epic and CBORD systems
