Position Summary

The Specialized Care Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Associate Director in supervision, hiring, training, and compliance for Clinical Dietitian I/II. Demonstrates leadership and accountability for standards of practice, with an advanced level of nutritional competency based on evidence-based principles. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and provides clinical care to meet patient needs.

Position Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Supervise clinical dietitians and support the Associate Director
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and direction; give performance feedback and promote growth
  • Work with Human Resources on coaching, development, and disciplinary actions
  • Conduct annual performance reviews
  • Communicate effectively, solve problems, resolve conflicts
  • Manage staffing levels and approve time off requests
  • Approve timecards for payroll
  • Organize staff continuing education
  • Lead monthly department meetings
Strategy, Program Development, and Instruction
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding
  • Lead training for new and current dietitians
  • Develop programs such as support groups and educational sessions
  • Monitor and assist with department budget
  • Ensure staff competency and quality of patient care
  • Perform quality assurance activities
  • Coordinate preceptor training and scheduling with the Master of Clinical Nutrition Director
  • Ensure staff compliance with policies and regulations, including The Joint Commission
  • Support modifications in foodservice software (CBORD)
Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Dietetics or related field, or equivalent experience and education.

Experience Requirements
  • At least 3 years of clinical nutrition experience
  • Competency in patient care across medical conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Registered Dietitian credential
  • Iowa licensure
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CDCES, CNSC)
  • Management or leadership experience
  • Experience with Epic and CBORD systems
