Clinical Dietitian Supervisor 100% - Downtown Campus

Position Summary
The Specialized Care Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Associate Director in supervision, hiring, training, and compliance for Clinical Dietitian I/II. Demonstrates leadership and accountability for standards of practice, with advanced nutritional competency rooted in evidence-based principles. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care and provides necessary clinical care to meet patient requirements.

Position Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Provide direct supervision between clinical dietitians and the Associate Director.
  • Offer leadership, coordination, direction, and administration to staff; provide continuous performance feedback and development tools.
  • Work with Human Resources to coach, develop, and implement disciplinary processes.
  • Conduct comprehensive annual performance reviews for clinical dietitians.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Manage staffing levels, approve/deny time off requests, and approve timecards each pay period.
  • Organize staff continuing education opportunities and lead monthly department meetings.
Strategy, Program Development, and Instruction
  • Assist in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new dietitians.
  • Develop and coordinate programs, including group classes, support groups, and educational initiatives.
  • Monitor and assist with department budgeting and unit budget management.
  • Ensure staff competency in evidence-based practices and quality patient care.
  • Monitor Quality Assurance through chart audits and other measures.
  • Collaborate on preceptor training and rotation scheduling with the Master of Clinical Nutrition Director.
  • Ensure staff compliance with policies, procedures, and standards such as The Joint Commission.
  • Support modifications in foodservice software systems like CBORD.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Dietetics or related field, or equivalent experience and education.
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical nutrition experience.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft Office Suite, and excellent communication skills.
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration and licensure by the State of Iowa.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced certifications such as CDCES, CNSC, etc.
  • Management or leadership experience.
  • Experience with Epic and CBORD software.
