Job summary

src is seeking a Clinical Dietitian PRN in Dallas (Hospital) to lead pediatric nutritional care. The role involves performing nutrition assessments, coordinating care with the medical team, and training dietetic interns.

Responsibilities include managing nutrition plans, supporting enteral/parenteral nutrition, and providing patient education while collaborating with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; or master's degree depending on RDN timing.
• Certification/eligibility: RD/RDN or RDE, exam within 6 months of hire.
• Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD) in TX or LD application approval required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nutrition Care Process to perform comprehensive nutritional assessments and reassessments using age-appropriate standards and validated tools.
• Respond to consults and referrals within established timeframes.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress; adjust nutrition interventions as needed.
• Communicate with medical team about nutrition interventions and care plans.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and families; tailor to learning style and culture.
• Support enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy and coordinate with the medical team.
• Participate in Hospitalist rounds and discharge rounds; interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Coordinate meals, supplements, and enteral feeding with FNS staff; ensure policy compliance.
• Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nutrition Care Process to perform comprehensive nutritional assessments and reassessments while using age-appropriate standards and validated tools to include nutrition related diagnosis using the eNCP terminology approved by the Academy of Nutrition and dietetics.
• Respond to consults and nutrition referrals within the established time frame Facility and or based on department policy and patient outcome
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting nutrition interventions as needed
• Communicate with medical team regarding nutrition intervention or plan of care through verbal, written, or electronic communication
• Provides nutrition education to patients and families with the patient's preferred learning style/readiness for change/cultural belief
• Support enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy when applicable and communicate recommendations with the medical team
• Participate in Hospitalist rounding, interdisciplinary meetings, and/or discharge rounds as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Communicates and coordinated meals, supplements, and enteral feeding regimen with the FNS staff
• Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and hospital policies
• Serves as a preceptor for dietetic interns

Required Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor's degree if RDN obtained prior to 1/1/24 or master's degree after 1/1/24
• RD/RDN or RDE with ability to sit for exam required withing 6 months of hire date
• LD (Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist) or LD approved application from Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation required 6 months of hire date with R.D.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical nutrition practice preferred; 1 year experience in a pediatric preferred
• Ability to read and speak English, Spanish ability beneficial
• This position fulfills on-call responsibilities for weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule with other RDN staff
