Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking Clinical Dietitians I and II to provide nutrition care to patients in acute care settings. Candidates must be Registered Dietitians, with a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and experience in nutrition care preferred. The position offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and involves working in diverse environments while adhering to departmental policies.

The Clinical Dietitian levels I and II: competently provides and documents nutrition care to patients as applicable to practice area.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
For Clinical Dietitian I: May be registry eligible, but must pass the RD exam within the first 6 months of employment.
Advancement from Clinical Nutrition I to II is required one year after passing the RD exam.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Maintain Registered Dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
CPR training for outpatient nutrition clinic practice.
Experience REQUIRED:
Clinical Dietitian I: Less than one year of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting.
Clinical Dietitian II: One or more years of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting as a Registered Dietitian (unless grandfathered in under previous requirements - 11/20).
Experience PREFERRED:
Clinical Dietitian I: N/A
Clinical Dietitian II: Experience in counseling within outpatient or acute care settings is desired.
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited institution.
Education/training PREFERRED:
Specialty certification in practice area, Certificate in Training (Adult Weight Management, Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management), Motivational Interviewing training, experience with clinical research protocols.
Independent actions:
Perform nutrition care activities per departmental policies. Cannot provide care to end-stage renal patients until one year post-registration.
Post-competency: Modify diets, order snacks/supplements, manage enteral feedings, order measurements, communicate with healthcare team, provide staff in-services.
Supervisory responsibilities: N/A
Additional requirements:
Work weekends as assigned, work in diverse environments, adhere to the Code of Ethics, travel to satellite clinics, flexibility for evening hours in pediatric outpatient roles.
Age-specific groups served: As appropriate based on assignment.
Physical requirements: Lifting <20 lbs, prolonged standing/sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, repetitive motions. Mental skills: recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking, writing, reading, logical thinking. Emotional resilience: handle fast-paced environments, multiple priorities, customer interactions, noise, adaptability.
