Description:

This position's primary role is to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) to adults in the outpatient setting. Provides 1:1 and class education. Assesses nutrition status of assigned patients and implements all components of the nutrition care process, according to food and nutrition department policies and local regulatory standards (IDPH, TJC, CMS, etc.). Monitors and evaluates nutrition interventions, makes appropriate adjustments to plans, as needed, and reports results of quality outcomes in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Has specialty practice experience and working knowledge in specific nutrition discipline. This position is a part of the Clinical Career Ladder Program.

Job Duties:
  1. Assess, interpret, plan, monitor and document the nutritional status and needs of patients using evidence-based standards of care, policies and practice guidelines. Perform a nutrition-focused physical exam. Identify and provide age-specific nutrition care considering cultural needs. Collaborate with an inter-disciplinary team to develop a care plan to meet medical goals.
  2. Manage and coordinate medical nutrition therapy for complex, high acuity patients within the dietitian's specialty area.
  3. Educate patients, caregivers, students, and healthcare colleagues on therapeutic diets and nutrition support to maintain or improve nutritional status.
  4. Demonstrate leadership by presenting on nutrition topics related to expertise, such as journal club, in-service, Grand Rounds, or hospital committees.
  5. Participate in department activities to improve patient satisfaction, stay current with nutrition research, and incorporate findings into practice. Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Family & Consumer Science with ACEND requirements completed.
  • 1-2 years of relevant job experience.
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Licensed as a Dietitian Nutritionist in Illinois.
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.
Compensation:

Pay Range: $53,144.00 - $82,368 Annually. Actual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification, and peer comparisons.
