Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a per diem Dietitian for the Day shift. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based nutritional care, designing patient-specific plans, and guiding MNT to diverse patient populations.

You will collaborate with the medical team, participate in rounds, and assist in training nutrition interns. A registered dietitian with a Master’s in nutrition is required, with licensure and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in food and nutrition, dietetics, or related field as required by the CDR; license as a registered dietitian (RD) in state licensure.
• One year of experience as a dietitian is preferred, ideally in healthcare.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain clinical concepts to physicians, staff, patients and families.
• Allergen awareness and Serv Safe training/certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs nutrition assessments per Nutrition Practice Guidelines.
• Develops patient-specific nutrition care plans and goals.
• Assesses need for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) instruction.
• Provides MNT instruction to patients on modified diets when appropriate.
• Manages nutrition support (EN/PN) per guidelines at MMC (MMC only).
• Documents assessments and care plans in EMR using standardized language.
