Job summary

MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to assess patients, develop and monitor individualized medical nutrition therapy, and educate patients and families on nutrition's impact on treatment. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in dietetics/nutrition or equivalent.
• 1-2 years experience in healthcare setting.
• Current state licensure/registration required and active Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics member; CNSD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to establish diet and nutrition plans.
• Review medical orders and develop individualized medical nutrition therapy.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and families; coordinate with care team.
• Coordinate enteral/parenteral nutrition plans and monitor status.
• Ensure diet prescriptions align with quality standards and patient goals.
• Document care plans and patient responses in medical records.
• Lead nutrition education materials development; participate in rounds and meetings.
• Direct clinical support staff to maintain productivity and workflow.
• Assess and adjust nutrition therapy for effectiveness and safety.
• Plan menus to meet nutritional and symptomatic needs for palliation.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and high-quality customer service.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and tray line procedures.
