Job summary

MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to assess patients, develop individualized medical nutrition therapy plans, and educate patients and families on dietary needs related to treatment. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include monitoring therapy, adjusting plans to achieve nutritional status goals, and documenting care plans in the medical record.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition required
• Equivalent qualification considered
• Current state licensure/registration required
• Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred or required

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to establish diet and nutrition plans
• Review medical orders and develop individualized nutrition therapy
• Provide education to patients and families on nutrition related to treatment
• Coordinate with physicians, nurses and other health professionals
• Monitor therapy progress and adjust plans as needed
• Document care plans and patient responses in medical records
• Ensure compliance with diet prescriptions and quality standards
• Serve as nutrition resource for care teams and staff
