$3000 SIGN ON Bonus for 1-year commitment for new hires! Full-Time - 64 hours/pay period - with option to pick up more*. Position mostly works McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital (MHMH) in beautiful Oxford, Ohio (6 shifts a pay period), one outpatient day at Bethesda Butler (Hamilton) and 1 class a pay period. Classes alternate between a diabetes class at MHMH and a Pulmonary Rehab class (rotating between Pavilion (Montgomery) & Western Ridge).
Flexible schedule, great benefits and paid time off! *Additional shifts, if interested, at larger sites (i.e. Bethesda North, Good Sam). Covers every 8th weekend, mostly remotely.
Principal accountabilities include:
- Planning, directly participating in and documenting all aspects of the nutritional care of patients in assigned areas.
- Performing nutritional assessments and documenting nutrition diagnosis based on guidelines outlined by the nutrition care process.
- Discussing the nutrition diagnosis and providing nutrition counseling that outlines nutrition goals with patients, families, and other team members when possible.
- Collaborating with internal and external resources to implement the nutritional care plan.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the patients' nutrition care plan and revising the plan as needed.
- Relating basic principles of nutrition to staff, health care team members, and the community.
- Reviewing current research to enhance professional practice.
- Serving on at least one hospital committee and providing pertinent feedback positively impacting decisions that affect the department, hospital, and community.
- Demonstrating awareness of professional time management and using time efficiently and productively.
- Being open to change and having the ability to alter tasks with minimal loss of efficacy.
Job Requirements:
As of 1/1/24, new practitioners are required to have a Master’s Degree in Dietetics. If eligible or registered prior to 1/1/24, a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics is required.
Dietetic limited permit is accepted upon hire. Required to pass RD exam within 6 months of hire date. Applicants not on a limited permit are required to have both Ohio Licensure AND Registration.
General clinical knowledge of adult learning principles and up to 1 year experience in a related field.
Job Responsibilities:
- Clinical Competency/Continued Education: Utilizes all components of Nutrition Care Process in care planning. Writes appropriate PES statements, and documents discharge plans consistently. Evaluates and monitors the effects of nutrition plans and practices and makes changes as needed. Keeps abreast of new nutrition research through continuing education opportunities, attending at least one educational session in the focus area of practice a year, and keeps CDR education record updated.
- Patient Education: Assesses patients' learning needs including cultural and religious beliefs, emotional and age-specific barriers, desire and motivation to learn, and diet history when completing patient education. Individualizes patients' intervention goals and documentation is complete per department standards.
- Projects: Completes a small project/bright idea such as updating (non-patient education) clinical resources, publishing nutrition articles, organizing education sessions on the unit, or organizing a journal club reviewing research articles with a group of Clinical Dietitians in the system.
- Time Management/Flexibility: Demonstrates awareness of professional time management. On average meets patient ratio goals. Demonstrates flexibility and is able to adjust schedule to meet daily needs.
- New Hire/Training and Development: Creates a welcoming atmosphere, reviews trainee's documentation, observes trainees' patient interactions, and provides feedback in a constructive/positive manner consistently when training new hires and/or dietetic interns.
- Leadership/Teamwork: Provides constructive feedback to move initiatives forward during department discussions/meetings.
