Position Summary

Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.

Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Chelsea Hospital/Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

Maintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Complete Patient Safety Learning Defects tool when appropriate.

Demonstrates self-directed learning.

Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Chelsea Hospital/Trinity Health.

Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.

Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.

Practices effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.)

Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.

Revise patient education materials as needed.

Contributes to writing, review, and updating departmental and interdepartmental policies.

Catch up Monday on RD work that has not necessitated the weekend on-call RD to come in over the weekend (ie, screen referrals for low risk assessments, diet education).

Coordinating ordering/maintaining office supplies through Foodservice department secretary.

Comply with hospital requirements for staff ie, annual mandatory learning.

Provide education in services to other departments as needed.

Fulfill all requirements of clinical RD position, including but not limited to: nutrition screens, assessments of patients at nutritional risk including age and development level, follow up on TPN or tube fed patients, tabulate calorie counts and perform diet instructions and education on nutrient-drug interactions.

Participates in multidisciplinary committees and task forces as assigned.
