Position Summary

The Clinical Coordinator within the Nuclear Medicine Program at Chattanooga State Community College is responsible for the coordination of effective and appropriate clinical education student experiences under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine Program Director, also assisting in the preparation and instruction of student laboratory experiences, sharing in the didactic course load.

All duties would be carried out according to JRCNMT standards, guidelines and policies for an accredited sonography program, as well as College and regional healthcare community expectations. As a part of these responsibilities, the Coordinator will carry a course load of clinical duties primarily, with at least one didactic course and multiple laboratory assignments, thereby having the status of faculty member.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (students, faculty, clinical preceptors, and healthcare partners) to promote a culture of transparency, shared accountability, and continuous feedback, ensuring alignment with Chattanooga State’s mission of access, completion, and workforce readiness.
  • Promote Student-Centered Practices: Ensure access to resources, support services, and learning opportunities that enhance student success, retention, and completion across all student populations.
  • Engage in Collaborative and Community-Focused Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to support a culture of collaboration, responsiveness to workforce needs, and continuous program improvement.
Fiscal Stewardship and Program Innovation
  • Support the Program Director in fiscal oversight of clinical operations by assisting with efficient scheduling of clinical placements, optimizing use of affiliate sites, and monitoring resource utilization to ensure cost-effective delivery of clinical education.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to identify and implement innovative clinical education strategies, including simulation integration, expanded clinical partnerships, and technology-enhanced learning models that strengthen student competencies while maximizing program capacity.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance and sustainability of clinical agreements by supporting tracking of affiliate contracts, contributing to data-informed decision-making, and identifying opportunities to streamline processes that enhance operational efficiency and long-term program viability.
Holistic Student Supports
  • Routinely interact with Academic Advisors to facilitate successful academic experiences for potential Nuclear Medicine students
  • Provide proactive, student-centered support across clinical experiences by maintaining regular communication with students, monitoring progression, and identifying academic or non-academic barriers that may impact performance, retention, and timely completion.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director, faculty, and student services to connect students with appropriate resources (e.g., tutoring, advising, mental health services, financial support), ensuring a coordinated and responsive support network.
  • Promote student success and well-being in clinical settings by fostering a supportive learning environment, offering timely feedback, and guiding students in professional development, resilience, and effective navigation of clinical expectations.
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
  • Lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of curriculum to ensure evidence-based teaching practices, alignment with accreditation standards, and strong student performance outcomes.
  • Deliver high-quality didactic and clinical instruction by teaching assigned courses and coordinating clinical learning experiences that align with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and current nuclear medicine practice.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to integrate innovative teaching strategies across both classroom and clinical settings, including simulation, case-based learning, and emerging technologies to enhance student engagement, clinical reasoning, and competency development.
  • Ensure and consistency and rigor in clinical didactic education by working with faculty and clinical preceptors to standardize expectations, evaluate student performance, and implement evidence-based teaching and assessment practices.
  • Contribute to continuous program improvement initiatives by collecting and analyzing student, course, and clinical site feedback, identifying trends, and supporting the implementation of instructional innovations that strengthen program quality and student outcomes.
  • Promote the use of simulation, hybrid learning models, and emerging instructional technologies to enhance student engagement, clinical readiness, and adaptability to evolving healthcare environments.

Required Qualifications
