Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Nursing Lead on the night shift to assist the manager in daily unit operations and provide direct patient care when needed. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan, implement, and evaluate care on the assigned unit and shift.

Requirements include a BSN (or current enrollment with timely completion), Ohio licensure, and BLS certification. Minimum two years of leadership experience and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing or enrollment with 2-year completion requirement.
• Minimum two years of relevant clinical experience with demonstrated management and leadership abilities.
• Previous charge nurse or other leadership experience required.
• Valid Ohio nursing license.

• Demonstrate personal and professional accountability for self and staff.
• Maintain unit safety for staff and patients.
• Participate in performance improvement.
• Support staff recruitment and retention efforts.
• Use critical thinking to manage patient care through staffing plan development, managing daily shift staffing, and delegation of resources.
• Support HR management activities including coaching, time keeping, development and evaluation of nursing personnel.
• Support patient care and staffing needs throughout the Akron Children's Hospital enterprise.
• Promote a positive work environment and staff engagement.
• Serve as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide care addressing physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.
• Other duties as required.

Summary

Assists manager in the daily operations at the unit level, in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluated delivery of patient care on assigned unit and shift. Contributes to development and evaluations of assigned nursing personnel. Assists and provides nursing care utilizing specialized knowledge, judgement and skill.

• Serves as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational and safety needs of the patients served.

Other Information

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
• Valid Ohio license.
• Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association is required.
• See the Department of Nursing Resuscitation Requirements and training policy #2102 for specific department requirements.
• Relevant professional nursing certification, preferred.

Education and Experience

• Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN required, or current enrollment in a BSN program with program completion required within 2 years of assuming position.
• Certification: May differ based on department/unit
• Years of experience: Minimum two years relevant clinical experience with demonstrated management and leadership abilities is required.
• Years of experience supervising: Previous charge nurse or other leadership experience is required.
• Strong leadership skills including communication/organizational skills, time management, coping skills, motivation, problem solving, autonomy, and supporting teams is required.
