Job summary

PCCA is seeking a Clinical Compounding Pharmacist to serve as a liaison, answering scientific questions and providing training to PCCA members. The role involves teaching seminars, consultations, and acting as a professional ambassador for pharmacy.

The position requires Pharm.D or B.S. in Pharmacy with at least five years of compounding experience and strong knowledge of USP and FDA compliance. Excellent communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
  • Five years of compounding experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Board Certification in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) preferred, or 5+ years in non-sterile to sterile compounding with USP/compliance.
  • Knowledge of extemporaneous compounding issues and related schooling or training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Answer scientific questions from PCCA members via phone or email promptly and professionally.
  • Teach pharmacists and technicians in CORE and other seminars as required.
  • Act as an ambassador for PCCA and the pharmacy profession.
  • Interact with customers, medical practitioners, academicians, staff, vendors and regulatory personnel.
  • Provide consultative services on compounding, including pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and USP/FDA compliance.

Job description

The Clinical Compounding Pharmacist will act as a liaison between PCCA and their customers by answering questions, providing training, and providing consultations.

What You Will Do
  • Answer PCCA Member’s scientific questions via telephone or electronic mail in a timely and professional manner
  • Teach pharmacists and technicians in PCCA’s CORE and other educational seminars, as required
  • Act as an ambassador for PCCA and the profession of pharmacy
  • Interact with customers, medical practitioners, academicians, fellow employees, vendors, regulatory agency representatives and governmental personnel
  • Provide consultative services to PCCA’s member pharmacists, encompassing all aspects of the science of extemporaneous compounding, including pharmaceutics (dosage form development), pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, pharmacology, chemical compatibility, beyond use dating, compliance with relevant chapters of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), compliance with FDA requirements, current peer reviewed literature, formulation processes and current issues impacting the profession
  • Assist in the education of pharmacists and technicians via lectures in training events and seminars
  • Assist with special projects, as required
Who You Are

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D)Five years of compounding experience gained from working in a pharmacy practice setting that regularly compounds medicationsBoard Certification in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of significant clinical experience in non-sterile to sterile compounding and USP / complianceKnowledge of extemporaneous compounding issues as described above, which is gained through specialized schooling or training, or through work experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsIntermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
