Job summary

UNT Health Fort Worth is seeking a Coding & Documentation Specialist to review clinical documentation, ensure accurate coding and timely reimbursement. You will work with clinicians, Billing, and other departments to improve documentation quality and reduce denials.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, CPC certification, and strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and payer guidelines. Prior NextGen experience is a plus; 1.0 FTE on-site in Fort Worth, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier guidelines is essential.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid and commercial payer policies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and coding for accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM codes and charges are supported by the medical record.
• Identify missing documentation and resolve issues delaying billing.
• Collaborate with clinicians to resolve documentation and coding concerns.
• Conduct chart reviews and coding audits to find trends and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor pending and unbilled charges and support timely claim submissions.
• Partner with Billing to resolve coding-related claim edits and denials.
• Suggest process improvements to prevent recurrence and improve revenue cycle.
