Job summary

Henry Community Health in Indiana seeks a clerical/ward clerk to provide unit-based administrative support. You will process physician orders, schedule tests and appointments, and coordinate with multiple departments to expedite diagnoses and treatment.

You may monitor telemetry rhythms, interpret rhythm strips, record patient information, assist with daily living activities, and serve as a communication hub for staff and patients, working full-time 7P–7:30A, three 12-hour shifts per week, with

Qualifications

• Reads/writes well enough to follow detailed procedures and perform basic math
• Knowledge of office procedures and equipment
• Ability to read telemetry monitor strips and interpret life-threatening arrhythmias
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• High school education or equivalent
• Six to twelve months of clinical/clerical experience in an acute care setting and at least three months as a nursing assistant or ward clerk

Responsibilities

• Works independently providing clerical services to assigned unit
• Processes physician orders and schedules patient tests and appointments
• Coordinates with other facilities to arrange appointments/tests/transfers
• Monitors telemetry rhythms and interprets rhythms; informs nurse of arrhythmias
• Monitors blood pressure and oxygen levels and reports changes
• Records patient information and rhythm strips in the clinical record
• Assists with basic daily living activities
• Acts as a communication focus for internal/external customers
• Performs admission, discharge, and transfer data entry
• Responsible for accurate billing/charge entry
