Job summary

HAI's Marjorie Kovler Center (MKC), originally based in Chicago, is a nationally recognized treatment center for survivors of torture and severe trauma and their families. Serving individuals from more than 60 countries, MKC provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health, medical, and social services. The center also advocates for the end of torture worldwide and for the rights of immigrant and refugee communities. HAI is now expanding the MKC into New York City, extending its nationally recognized survivor-centered model to reach more individuals and communities.

Summary: The Clinical Case Manager is responsible for providing specialized clinical case management services to clients and families, helping them navigate and access medical, psychological, social, and other essential supports. Through MKC’s robust network of community providers, the Clinical Case Manager coordinates individualized services that promote sustained physical, social, emotional, and economic well-being, while supporting clients in building stable and fulfilling lives in their new communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts intake, outreach, and provides clinical case management services to program participants through a short-term case management model. Screens for income supports for benefits and entitlements to advocate on behalf of program participants.
• Receives case assignments, establishes service plans, reviews case progress, and determines case closure through the supervisor of the assigned program and in accord with funder requirements.
• May provide counseling to address motivational and psychosocial issues of program participants in an individual or group context. Provides intense advocacy, crisis intervention, counseling and problem solving in a variety of areas to support, increase, or restore program participant’s capacity for self-sufficiency. Additionally, may refer clients externally due to client needs or program capacity.
• Provides services in a professional, competent, efficient, timely and otherwise satisfactory manner. Takes initiative to cooperate and work in collaboration with all program staff internal and external to provide services in accordance with the terms of the program agreement.
• Develops, implements, oversees, and follows up with program participant treatment plans to ensure that realistic goals and deadlines of accomplishments are being met within the reporting cycle outlined by program funders.
• Develops, monitors, and enhances professional relationships with social service, health and governmental agencies.
• Participates and contributes in regular supervision meetings, team meetings, in-house training sessions, conferences and program and operational planning.
• Establishes and maintains a professional and therapeutic relationship within the guidelines of professional standards, confidentiality laws, and the newest clinical research available.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience

Required

• BA/BSW and 3 years of experience working in a trauma-informed, behavioral, and/or public health setting, or Master’s degree in social work, public health, counseling, clinical psychology or related field.

Preferred

• LPC/LSW licensure
• Language needs vary based on programs and participant populations served.Bilingual proficiency in a language other than English (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic, or Portuguese) is preferred.
