Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Clinical Care Technician for the Monmouth Medical Center Nursing Float Pool. The role supports Registered Nurses with hands-on care, including vital signs, mobility, and personal care for patients across medical-surgical units and telemetry, with potential assignments in ED or ICU areas as needed.

The position requires a minimum of 2 years of acute care or Med/Surg/Telemetry experience, strong teamwork, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Nursing assistant experience or CNA certificate is preferred or beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide nursing care including vital signs, ECGs, phlebotomy, bedside care, bathing, mouth care, and skin care.
• Monitor vital signs and track patient health status.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) while maintaining confidentiality.
• Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans.

Clinical Care Technician (CCT) – Float Pool

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), you will be a vital part of our collaborative nursing team, supporting Registered Nurses in providing hands-on care and helping create a safe, welcoming environment for patients. You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. Your attention, empathy, and teamwork help restore comfort and dignity for every patient you serve and make our mission to improve lives a reality each day.

Float Pool covers six (6) different areas, census varies from 11 to 28 patients and provides direct care to primarily medical surgical patients which include specialties like orthopedic / neurosurgery, oncology, stroke and cardiac and other conditions requiring telemetry. Maybe assigned in the Emergency Department for Med/Surg Holds and ICU for Stepdown and Telemetry Downgrades “

Requires a minimum of 2 years of acute care or Med/surg / Telemetry unit experience with strong collaboration and communication skills

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS,performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, and skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning
