Job summary

The role requires CMA certification, BLS, and at least 5 years of direct patient interaction in a physician's office. Proficiency with exams and in-office tests is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program with CMA certification.
• 5 years' experience in direct patient interaction in a physician's office setting.
• Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assists in patient flow from waiting room to visit.
• Captures vital signs and current medications for provider evaluation.
• Handles patient call backs and prescription refills within scope.
• Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.
• Prepares for clinic by reviewing schedule and patient records.
• Administers IV therapy within training scope.
• Able to perform phlebotomy.
• Performs EKGs, PFTs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments and related tests.
• Performs in-office labs such as glucose, strep, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, HbA1c.
• Sterilizes instruments and stocks rooms as needed.
• Interacts with referral sources and providers in a customer-focused manner.
• Monitors clinical staff performance with Practice Manager.
