Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Clinical Cancer Genomics Technologist II – Certified performs cancer genomic laboratory procedures, leading to accurate clinical reports using the International System for Cytogenomic Nomenclature. The role involves routine tasks with significant independence and may include supervisory responsibilities.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), day shift position, with routine Saturday and/or Sunday shifts required.

Responsibilities
  • Perform benchwork, analysis, and reporting of genetic/genomic assays accurately and efficiently.
  • Review straightforward and complex cases and reports under supervision.
  • Contribute to lab operations, quality management, methods development, and SOP revisions.
  • Make workflow decisions in the absence of lead staff.
  • Provide guidance on technical issues within expertise and general guidance outside expertise.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or assay issues with moderate assistance.
Additional Tasks
  • Assist with validation and implementation of new processes.
  • Support lab management in improving operations and investigating new technologies.
  • Gather and analyze data for research or publication with moderate assistance.
  • Participate in staff training and daily workload planning.
  • Contribute to staff education and represent the lab in meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS in a related scientific field.
  • At least three years' experience in a cytogenetics/genomics lab or completion of a certified training program plus two years' experience.
  • Certification as CG(ASCP)CM, MB(ASCP)CM, or equivalent with ongoing CE documentation.
  • Solid knowledge of cancer genomics of hematological disorders and diagnostic testing.
  • Good troubleshooting, attention to detail, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to differentiate colors and pass a color vision test.

The hourly pay range is $41.82 to $62.72, based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance. Fred Hutch offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, retirement, paid time off, and more.
