Job summary

Department of Veterans Affairs at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX, seeks a Supervisory Biomedical Engineer (Clinical) to lead the Biomedical Engineering Department within Facilities Management.

You will supervise staff engineers, oversee healthcare technology projects, and ensure safety, compliance, and efficient operations supporting patient care. The role reports to the Chief Biomedical Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) may be considered with eligible education.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Provide management support and technical consultation to Leadership on Biomedical Engineering issues.
• Collaborate with operations and program managers to meet goals and priorities.
• Coordinate with peers in other services to serve internal and external customers.
• Plan and schedule work, set priorities, and develop performance standards for staff.
• Oversee staff recruitment, discipline, training needs, and organizational changes as needed.
