Job summary

The College of Optometry at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis invites applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position in optometry education and clinical care.

Initial rank will be commensurate with experience, and successful candidates will teach, provide clinical services in UMSL Eye Care, mentor student research, and contribute to education development and program assessment.

Qualifications

• OD degree, eligible for or active license to practice optometry in Missouri.
• Experience with, or demonstrated potential to develop, innovative instructional strategies and technology.
• Expertise in an area of emphasis and contemporary issues in optometry and healthcare.
• Demonstrated experience in the effective dissemination of evidence-based practice and translating research into clinical care and education.
• Experience teaching, providing clinical services to, and collaborating with students, patients, and colleagues from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, evaluation, and enhancement of optometric education.
• Support the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Optometry.
• Provide instruction and service in the professional program and maintain a clinical practice for UMSL Eye Care and affiliated clinic partners.
• Mentor student research and oversee scholarly projects.
• Emphasize the primary area based on prior accomplishments and interests.
