Job summary

Corewell Health in Troy, MI, is seeking a part-time Nursing Resource Pool member to provide patient care under RN supervision. The role includes assisting in multiple units, managing supplies, and documenting care in the EMR.

You will work nights in a centralized Staffing Office Float Pool based at Troy Hospital, with a schedule that supports patient needs and unit priorities while maintaining safety standards and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of CNA experience.
• American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care assignments as delegated by a registered nurse.
• Clerical duties and manage supplies/equipment in designated areas.
• Document care in the electronic medical record and assist with daily unit operations.
• Serve as receptionist and organize daily work based on unit priorities.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required competencies.

About the unit

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is made up of a variety of Nurses (ICU nurses, progressive-care nurses, and medical-surgical nurses), Nursing Assistants, and Patient Observation Aides (Patient Sitters). The Nursing Resource Pool staff are like the lifeguards of the hospital. Each day and night, NRP staff are deployed throughout the hospital to help to rescue all areas that find themselves short-staffed and drowning. Because the NRP staff can go all over the hospital to provide care, the NRP experience is a fantastic learning environment for those who are in school as it allows staff to care for nearly every kind of patient that is admitted to the hospital. NRP staff rarely get bored, because the types of patients they care for changes nearly every day. The patients, families, and staff of the hospital all greatly value and appreciate the help and expertise that the NRP staff provide to them.

Scope of work

Provide patient care assignments as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse. Clerical/manages supplies/equipment in designated care areas. Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy. Documents in electronic medical record. Acts as a receptionist and organizes daily work assignment based on unit priorities. Organizes daily work assignments based on unit priorities. Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
• Current CNA certification preferred
