Job summary

The University of Kansas, School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, seeks a 12-month Clinical Assistant Professor to teach in skills-related coursework within the didactic curriculum on the Lawrence, Kansas campus.

Responsibilities include teaching Pharmacy Practice Skills Lab courses, developing simulations, assessing performance, advising students, and contributing to department service. On-site instruction required; bargaining agreement applies.

Qualifications

• A terminal degree in Pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school or for pre-2000 graduates, a BS in Pharmacy degree is considered terminal).
• Demonstrated ability to teach professional students or colleagues as evidenced by a record of presentations or teaching experience.
• Immunization certificate, currently or obtained within 90 days after starting the position.
• Applicants must be licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Kansas or must obtain licensure through the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of start date.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials and interview process

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and instruct courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum assigned by the Chair of Pharmacy Practice or designee.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues teaching in the Pharmacy Skills series.
• Provide assessment support for live performance assessment activities across the Pharmacy Practice curriculum.
• May coordinate one elective course per year in the PharmD curriculum as needed.
• Create timelines for standardized patient encounters for all Pharmacy Skills courses for the upcoming academic year; work with Performance Assessment Coordinators on Lawrence and Wichita campuses to reserve rooms and resources.
• Precept P4 students as part of the School’s summer camp program for high school students.
• Reset and resupply all standardized patient encounter rooms; ensure cameras and computers in the SP center are functional.
• Present topics as part of incoming P1 student onboarding/orientation efforts.
• Serve on committees and advise PharmD students as assigned by the Dean’s Office.
• Advise pharmacy student organizations within the School.
• Provide community education and professional lectures to the community as assigned by Chair or designee.
• Participate in scholarship resulting in conference presentations, peer-reviewed manuscripts, or invited lectures
