Position Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Assistant Professor, non-tenure track, in critical care, acute care, or ambulatory care pharmacy will support the mission and vision of the Department of Pharmacy Practice within the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and School of Health Professions through teaching, clinical practice, service, and scholarship. The faculty member will have clinical practice and education responsibilities in an area of pharmacy practice aligned with their expertise, which may include critical care, acute care, or ambulatory care pharmacy. Clinical practice will be based at an institution in the Greater Philadelphia area and aligned with the faculty member’s area of expertise. The faculty member will precept student pharmacists in introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, with potential opportunities to precept pharmacy residents or other learners. Depending on departmental needs, the faculty member may also contribute to interprofessional education through participation in an underserved student‐run clinic or similar practice‑based learning environment. The faculty member will contribute to on‑campus teaching in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum, including interprofessional education and other areas consistent with their clinical expertise. Additional responsibilities include student mentoring, service on departmental, college, university, and professional committees or working groups, as applicable, and engagement in scholarly activity aligned with clinical practice and pharmacy education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teaching and Instruction Design, coordinate, and deliver didactic, laboratory, simulation-based, and experiential instruction in pharmacy practice and related subject areas.
• Teach in the professional pharmacy curriculum and interprofessional education programs using evidence-based instructional strategies that promote clinical reasoning, professional competency, collaboration, and achievement of program outcomes.
• Develop course materials, learning objectives, assessments, grading rubrics, and instructional activities that align with program outcomes and accreditation standards.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
• Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Serve as a preceptor for Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences in settings aligned with the faculty member’s clinical expertise and practice responsibilities
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy students and, when applicable, residents, fellows, or other learners in clinical and academic settings.
• Promote professional behavior, ethical practice, interprofessional collaboration, and patient-centered care among learners.
• Student Advising and Mentorship Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, professional development, career planning, and leadership opportunities.
• Support student engagement in professional organizations, research, service, and interprofessional activities.
• Identify students in need of additional support and refer them to appropriate academic or student services resources.
• Clinical Practice and Patient Care Maintain an active clinical practice site or professional practice role appropriate to the faculty member’s area of expertise. Collaborate with interprofessional team to optimize medication use and patient outcomes. Model professional pharmacy practice and serve as a role model for students and trainees.
• Service to the Institution and Profession Participate in department, college, university, and practice-site committees or initiatives. Contribute to admissions, accreditation, assessment, faculty governance, and program development activities. Provide service to the pharmacy profession through professional organizations, peer review, continuing education, advocacy, or community engagement. Support the mission, values, and strategic priorities of the institution.
• Research and Scholarship Engage in scholarly activity appropriate to a clinical faculty role. Disseminate scholarly work through local, regional, or national venues.
• Compliance and Professional Standards Attend faculty meetings, retreats, professional development sessions, commencement, white coat ceremonies, and other institutional events as assigned. Maintain required licensure, certifications, credentials, and training necessary for teaching and clinical practice. Comply with institutional policies, practice-site requirements, accreditation standards, privacy regulations, and professional codes of conduct. Demonstrate professionalism and collegiality.
• Secondary Duties and Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the faculty member’s expertise, rank, workload expectations, and institutional mission.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Completion of a pharmacy residencies in area of expertise, or equivalent experience
• Active licensure or eligibility for pharmacist licensure in New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania
• Evidence of effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff, students and trainees, as well as healthcare professionals
• Commitment to excellence in teaching, clinical practice, service, and scholarly activity
• Preferred Board of Pharmacy Specialties board certification, or eligibility to obtain certification
• Prior experience teaching, precepting, or mentoring student pharmacists
• Experience with interprofessional education and collaborative practice
• Evidence of scholarly activity
• Active involvement in professional organizations

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

Participate, as assigned, in selected university events and recruitment activities, such as open houses and accepted student days, which may occur during evenings or weekends.

Pay Transparancy

The estimated pay range for this position is $115,000-$118,000 offered salary will be commensurate with work experience and educational background.
