Clinical Assistant Professor Behavioral Psychologist - Pediatrics

Job Description Summary :

This position is for a licensed clinical psychologist functioning in the clinical setting at an academic medical center. The psychologist will be responsible for providing care to pediatric patients with common behavioral issues in childhood and adolescence, such as internalizing and externalizing disorders.

Key Roles and Responsibilities :

1. Primary responsibilities are clinical.
2. Teaching within the clinical setting for graduate-level learners from various disciplines, including medical students and pediatric residents.
3. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.

Required Qualifications :

• PhD in Clinical Psychology with children, licensed psychologist (LP).
• Current license from the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) or license eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications :

Work Experience :

• Desire to work full-time as a clinical psychologist in a pediatrics department providing mental health care to children.
• Experience with clinical teaching at a medical institution in behavioral pediatrics is preferred.

Skills :

• Expertise in young child mental health, evaluation and treatment of severe mental illness in children and adolescents, dialectical behavior therapy, behavior management, and screening for suicide and self-harm.
• Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to teach graduate learners from various disciplines.
