Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, or PhD in a related field (e.g. Disability Studies, Rehab Sciences, Rehab Engineering).
• Licensure in Occupational and/or Physical Therapy is required.
• 5 years of clinical experience in related settings.
• Advanced knowledge and skills in Assistive Technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction for departmental courses, including Assistive Technology Certificate program courses with emphasis on seating and wheeled mobility and alternative digital access.
• Coordinate and deliver comprehensive assistive technology services in seating/wheeled mobility, home modifications, and alternative digital access via the Assistive Technology Unit.
• Provide clinical education, training, and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students in rehabilitation, Disability and Human Development, education, medicine, and neuroscience programs at UIC.
• Supervise students completing the Assistive Technology Certificate fieldwork in seating/wheeled mobility and alternative digital access.
• Collaborate with the Assistive Technology Unit Director on insurance billing processes and cost containment strategies for assistive technology services.
• Conduct outcome-focused assistive technology research and contribute to presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
